What is Corona Virus?
While the current viral outbreak is called ‘The Corona Virus‘, Coronaviruses (CoV) are a family of viruses the cause illness from the common cold to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). Discovered in December 2019, the respiratory illness COVID-19 is the newest strand of coronavirus.
Common symptoms of COVID-19 include but are not limited to:

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) are providing updates and information of COVID-19 to help keep the public safe and informed during the investigation of this viral infection.
The Makeup Industry’s Response
Large makeup retailers, like Sephora and Ulta, are adding precautionary measures to the sanitation of their stores.
Sephora has banned all makeup testers in store to avoid the spread of Corona virus. Meanwhile, Ulta employees have restricted the use of their makeup testers only allowing their use with the permission and assistance from a store associate. Store are also requiring the staff to wipe down all communal areas with Clorox wipes every hour.
For those who do not feel comfortable purchasing product without testing,
both stores are encouraging the use of their digital make up services. The digital makeup services offer varying cosmetics for the skin, lips, eyes, mouth, and cheeks to sample virtually.
Ulta offers the Glamlab, an in-browser digital try on feature that uses your computer camera or a model to sample makeup. Their models represent 15 different skin tones to choose from to get find the best match for you.
Sephora offers the mobile app, Sephora Virtual Artist. While you can download the application at the app store, it’s also available in-browser. To use the service you can use a camera to try it on in real-time, a picture of yourself or chose from one of their 4 models.
